Surf Monkey Press began with the realization that people who are diagnosed as autistic can move off the spectrum entirely. We also noticed the expert advice felt too polite. The systems felt too rigid. And the solutions? Too disconnected from real life.
We didn’t set out to start a publishing nonprofit. We set out to solve a problem—how to support autistic individuals without sugarcoating the struggle or shaming the people doing their best to help them.
That journey led to Autism Reimagined: Beliefs, Breakthroughs, and the Future—a book that challenged conventional narratives and offered raw, research-backed insight into how parents' beliefs shape their children's behavior. When it struck a chord with families, teachers, and therapists across the country, we knew we had tapped into something bigger.

We are not just writing books. We are building a movement. A movement grounded in lived experience, not theory. In compassion, not compliance. In practical change, not platitudes.
Surf Monkey Press evolved into a California-based nonprofit with a bold mission: to create tools, resources, and stories that actually help. Whether that means designing a tantrum tracking system for home use, offering sensory-friendly materials, or calling out systems that fail families—we’re here for the real work.
We believe autism can be “cured,” as well as supported, shaped, and empowered. We use scientific studies and real people to back up our claims. Our work is based on peer review medical research and historical data, not anecdotal reports. That’s the heart of our story—and we’re just getting started.
